THE ART OF MEMORY

Every detail we commit to memory is an imprint of the ones we hold dear, remaining with us long after they’ve gone. We recall the sound of their voices and the angles of their smiles. We tell their stories. We become living vessels of memory, shaped by the unique individuals we’ve been fortunate enough to know and love during their lives.

Each MEMORY URN is made unique by natural variations from the Raku ceramic technique, masterfully applied in the designs of artist Juan de Dios Sánchez. Contemporary, elegant, and attractive, these vessels hold a graceful presence in any setting. They are a beautiful memorial to those we hold forever  in our hearts and homes.

The raku process we use is a centuries old technique of removing a fired piece of ceramic while the artwork is still red hot in the kiln. It is a very volatile moment for the ceramic artwork to survive the heat shock. ⁣The artwork cools in large insulated chambers filled with paper that ignite the moment the piece is placed inside. This process allows for the chaotic combination of hot glaze and dense carbon filled smoke to create rich colors and beautiful cloudy lusters.
